OUR HISTORY

Growing access to vocational education.

uMgungundlovu TVET College was established following the merger of several former technical colleges (Edendale, Plessislaer, Midlands, Msunduzi and Northdale) as part of the national transformation of technical and vocational education in South Africa.

The institution was created to expand access to quality vocational education and skills training within the uMgungundlovu District Municipality and surrounding areas.

Since its establishment, the College has grown into one of the key public TVET institutions in KwaZulu-Natal, serving thousands of students annually through its network of campuses. The College has continued to strengthen its role in technical skills development, artisan training, entrepreneurship support and workforce preparation.
